National Deputy Esteban Paulón warned that the government is embroiled in a major political controversy following the revelation that Chief of Staff Manuel Adorni used the presidential aircraft to transport his wife to New York. According to the legislator, the episode not only raises questions about potential administrative irregularities but also directly impacts the narrative of austerity that President Javier Milei's administration has promoted since taking office. Paulón stated that the case symbolically damages one of the main spokespeople of the ruling coalition. 'The trip of Adorni's wife on the presidential plane damages and chips away at the libertarian government's narrative,' he affirmed. He also questioned the government's handling of the crisis. 'If Adorni's wife was indeed there, we want to know what her role was,' he indicated. Paulón recalled that Adorni himself had announced in 2024 a presidential decree restricting the use of official aircraft by the relatives of officials. 'Instead of apologizing for violating a norm that he himself defended, he ended up apologizing for using a word incorrectly,' he criticized. The legislator explained that he has initiated formal information requests to clarify the details of the trip and to identify who was part of the official delegation. 'The first thing we asked for is the flight manifest and the list of the hotel where the delegation stayed,' he said. 'A part of society is not doing well and needs to feel that there is representation and that someone is asking what happened,' he stated. In line with this, he emphasized that the objective is to guarantee transparency in public administration. 'If the government had handled the crisis better, probably the issue would have deactivated in 48 hours. But when contradictions and new revelations appear, the investigation becomes inevitable,' he concluded.
